Patience Jonathan stay away from our activities –PDP Leaders in Oyo Warn President's Wife

Some PDP leaders in Oyo State have kicked against a request by Patience, the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, for a former governor of the state, Rashidi Ladoja, to be "accommodated" in the PDP.

Mrs. Jonathan was said to have made the request during a meeting she had with the state PDP leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja nine days ago.

Some of leaders of the party in attendance were ex-governor Adebayo Alao-Akala; the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Jumoke Akinjide; a former Senate Leader, Sen. Teslim Folarin, and Chief Yekini Adeojo.

Ladoja, a former member of PDP and now National Leader of Accord Party, is nursing a guber ambition. He was also present at the villa meeting.

A PDP source, who attended the meeting told PUNCH that most of those in attendance were stunned when the President's wife suggested that Ladoja should be supported to realise his ambition.
The source said, "The President's wife asked that we should accommodate someone who is not a member of the party. How do we do this?

"She was tactically telling us to support his governorship ambition because she was saying she knew that Ladoja has the capacity to win election and defeat the All Progressives Congress in the state.

"But we disagreed and told her so. That was what happened, but she promised to convey another meeting soon where the issue would be further discussed.

"But I can tell you that we are not pleased with her activities in our party. We don't understand where she derives the power to interfere in running of the PDP. In fact, most of us may not attend any other meeting summoned by her because she is not our leader. She should keep off because if we field a wrong person, we may not defeat the APC in our state during the governorship election."

You may wish to know that Patience is also ensuring that Nyesom Wike takes the PDP ticker in Rivers.

AT LAST: Speaker Tambuwal Dumps PDP for APC Today

After months of consultations, speaker of the House of Reps, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, will today dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress(APC).

He will read his defection letter on the floor of the House at plenary. However, contrary to the widely-held belief, Tambuwal will not resign his position as speaker; he will not lose his membership either.

Tambuwal's defection to the APC has long been expected by many; his political affiliations had always portrayed him as a politician on the verge of joining the camp of the leading opposition party.
According to Governor Aliyu Wamakko: "I want to inform all stakeholders of the APC gathered here that Tambuwal has been with us since the formation of our great party. We told him to remain in PDP until the day of nomination of the party's governorship candidate; and today is the day."

According to LEADERSHIP, the speaker has avoided events organised by the PDP, especially since the emergence of the now defunct New PDP led by five of the G7 governors, one of whom is the governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko.

The speaker's decision to finally dump the party may have been as a result of possible conclusions that his headship of the lower house might not necessarily be linked with any political party. Already, some legal minds have clarified the position of the law in this regard.

Regardless, LEADERSHIP exclusively learnt that all consultations are over and that the speaker had made all the necessary arrangements to defect to the APC and contest for the Sokoto State governorship seat in 2015.

A source close to the speaker told our correspondent: "He has concluded arrangements to move to the APC, and we all know that is the right thing for him to do now. The law allows him to defect to another party without losing his membership of the House or his seat as the speaker of the House."

It's getting serious! 9ice releases his official campaign posters

The singer is taking a break from music to concentrate on politics. He's contesting for a seat at the House of Representatives in next year's general elections.

REVEALED: Presidency is Negotiating with Fake Boko Haram

Could it be that the Presidency is deceiving Nigerians or they are deceiving themselves? They say they are in contact with Boko Haram and negotiating a cease-fire deal but killings are still going on.

And now fresh revelations are coming in from popular Nigerian journalist, Ahmed Salkida, who is known to have connections to the terrorist group Boko Haram. He has revealed that the Nigerian government is withholding information from the public regarding the cease-fire deal it claims to have reached with the terrorist sect.

From his Twitter handle @ContactSalkida, Salkida states that recent investigation into the agreement show that nothing has been done concretely to ensure safety in the northeast.
According to Salkida, "The girls and many other captives, according to decade-long sources 'have not been moved an inch and no talks [are] ongoing'."
Below are the full revelations from Ahmed Salkida on the fake Boko Haram deal:

He stressed: "My journalistic investigations on 'negotiations' (based on snapshots and several accounts I just received from sources), suggest and indeed clearly point in different direction from what the FG is insisting."

See the cute Nigerian girl who emerged best graduating student

I love it when a lady is a combination of beauty and brains, like my baby. This girl is one of such:

Rita Aladi, 20, leads nine other females in sweeping academic laurels at the fourth convocation of the Caleb University in Imota, Lagos. Punch's Charles Abah writes:

Two things occupied the mind of the 20-year-old best graduating student of the Caleb University, Miss Rita Aladi, as she mounted the podium to deliver her valedictorian speech.

The first had to do with the burden of how she eventually graduated from the university. The second is on how she eventually topped the list of the 2014 graduating class. For her, the sum total of all that took place on the convocation day was a nice surprise.
She said, "I almost dropped out of school in my final year due to financial difficulties. That I eventually graduated from this school is a miracle. It came to a point that my father had to come to appeal to the authorities to give him some grace period to enable him to pay my fees.
"Beyond this, I never knew that I could become the best graduating student. Throughout my primary and secondary education, I never came first. But I had never gone below the third position in any class."

Rita Aladi's display on the podium aptly captured this element of surprise. Intermittently, she screamed ewoooo, muttered God oooo, while she yet punctuated her speech with sobbing.

The youngster, who bagged a first class in Biochemistry, posted a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.80 out of 5.0 points to emerge the overall best in the 2014 convocation of the university. For her excellence, she received several awards, including 'The Most Outstanding Student of the Year' and the 'Best Graduating Student in the College of Pure and Applied Sciences'.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, she is also the first to obtain a first class from the department of Biochemistry.

She said, "I did not plan to be the best graduating student but I told myself that I needed to compensate my parents for their commitment to my education. They were always there for me in spite of the difficult times that they faced."

She noted that as at the time she got admission to the school, her father was a buoyant entrepreneur, though her mother was a trader. However, things became tough for the father, who was running a bakery and a filling station.

She further said, "Also, the advice from our Dean, Prof. Sunday Ajayi, any time he had the opportunity of talking to us, helped me a lot. He always challenged us to aim higher in life. Again, because I made a first class grade in my first year, I was under this immense pressure of maintaining that height. Though I obtained that grade all through the subsequent years, I never looked forward to becoming the best graduating student. In all frankness, I never thought of it."
On what she intends to do after her National Youth Service, the valedictorian said she did not have an idea yet. "I shall return to the university to study either in Nigeria or overseas but I do not know yet what course I will pursue at the postgraduate level," she explained, brimming with a touch of innocence.

[DETAILS] How Wizkid Was Arrested in a Kenyan Hotel

Kenyan publication Standard Digital said he was arrested at his Nairobi Crown Plaza hotel over the weekend. According to the website, when confronted by the hotel's staff, things got heated, which led them to calling police. Somehow Victoria Kimani's name was also in the mix.

"Visiting Nigerian singer Wizkid was arrested from his Nairobi Crown Plaza Hotel room on Saturday afternoon and quizzed by police only hours before his flight back to Lagos.

The arrest was in connection with allegations that he was caught smoking illegal substances. The incident happened at around 1pm just as the Caro singer was checking out of his hotel room where he has been staying for a week, since his last week's concert.

Before police officers cuffed him and drove him to Capital Hill Police Station where he was quizzed, the hotel had already charged him with 50,000 Kenyan Shillings smoking penalty, which he paid through his credit card.

Coming to his rescue was his newly found Kenyan flame Victoria Kimani, who followed him to the police station shortly after he had been arrested. Victoria had been with the singer at the hotel the previous day. Wizkid was due to leave for Lagos at around 3pm and was forced to cancel the flight due to the drama."

Neither Wizkid nor Victoria Kimani has responded to the alleged incident.

Ladies, That Your Sugar Daddy Don't Love You; SEE Why

One lady who thinks our young girls of today should stop running around with other women's husbands in the name sugar daddies is Bianka Johnson. She said girls flaunting their escapades with older men on the social media are simply misguided as the man is just using them as cheap girls.

In her sincere advise to ladies, Bianka Johnson, who is the CEO of BJ Movie Production, said:
"Nothing is interesting about being a side chic, nothing at all. I see girls on social media who take pride in displaying their ill-gotten souvenirs from their bitter daddies. He can't be that sweet if you are still his unofficial girl. Common be realistic girls. He gives you crumbs and leftovers so don't be fooled by the blings. He got money quite alright but is your name on any of his businesses? Are you one of the beneficiaries on his life insurance?

"The official wife control his money, accounts and everything else so don't believe all the bull he tells you...

"She wears his axx out every night so don't think he ain't getting sushi at home. If he ain't doing it how come every time you look around she is pregnant with his baby. If his axx is that miserable how come his still with her? Ladies shine your eyes...most men are sushi hunters."
Dear single ladies, over to you. A word is enough for the wise!

Jonathan Declares for 2015 Presidency

Goodluck Jonathan has finally indicated his interest to contest for the office of President of Nigeria in the 2015 presidential election scheduled for February 14, 2015. He has already named Bello Haliru as head of the committee for his re-election declaration. The battle for 2015 has commenced, Nigerians decide!

Ebola: Nigeria to Conquer the World if APC is voted into power

Nigeria will become a world beater in so short a time if the All Progressives Congress (APC) is voted into power during next year's presidential election, the Rivers State Chapter of the party has said. It made the submission while reacting to the declaration of Nigeria as Ebola-free by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Monday.

"Monday, 21st October, 2014, will remain evergreen in the history of Nigeria as it was the day the World Health Organisation declared Nigeria Ebola-free and the American Broadcasting Corporation also declared Nigeria's Ebola eradication effort as a model which the USA and other nations must emulate. Those of us in APC celebrate this feat since Lagos and Rivers, the two states that achieved this milestone, are APC States.

This clearly points to where the hope lies as Nigerians prepare to vote for a new government next year. With what Lagos and Rivers states demonstrated in this regard, it simply means that with APC at the helm of affairs come 2015, Nigeria will surely be a world beater," Rivers APC said in a statement issued Thursday in Port Harcourt.
The party in the statement signed by the State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, made it clear that in APC lies the hope and future of Nigeria, warning: "If we fail to take advantage of the 2015 elections to vote out the wicked and visionless PDP, we are doomed as a nation."

Rivers APC said it was "overwhelmed with happiness", heartily congratulating Governors Babatunde Fashola and Chibuike Amaechi of Lagos and Rivers States respectively for putting smiles and hope on the faces of Nigerians and the entire world through their robust and effective response to the Ebola challenge.

"We also congratulate all those that lost their lives in the fight against Ebola, particularly the doctors and other gallant medical staff, particularly in Lagos and Rivers States, who paid the supreme price in their determination to save the nation from catastrophe," the party said.

It party commended the Government of USA for deciding to learn from the strategies adopted by the two APC states of Lagos and Rivers to eradicate Ebola from Nigeria.

Jonathan’s Wife resigns as Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa

Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, has resigned her appointment as Permanent Secretary in the Bayelsa State Civil Service. 57-year-old Patience was said to have left the service voluntarily. She was one of the appointed 17 permanent secretaries in the state civil service in July 2012.

The appointment had caused outrage at the time with some Bayelsa residents accusing Governor Seriake Dickson of politicising the civil service in the state.

Though Ministry of Education sources said Patience disengaged from service voluntarily, there were speculations that she resigned because of alleged rift between her and Dickson.

The alleged frosty relationship between the governor and the President's wife was said to have been triggered by Patience unwillingness to support Dickson's second term bid.
One civil servant, who agreed to speak only on condition of anonymity, said, "The whole thing is political. It appears Madam (the President's wife) is not happy with the governor. With her resignation, the battle line has been drawn.
"I feel the President's wife resigned to enable her to have the moral right to slug it out with Dickson ahead of the governorship poll in the state. Let no one deceive you, the whole thing is politics. After all, she is 57 and the retirement age is 60."

Instead, it was learnt that Jonathan's wife had expressed her preference for the Special Assistant to the President on Domestic Matters, Mr. Waripamowei Dudafa.

At the state's Ministry of Education on Thursday, many of the civil servants refused to comment on the development. But Punch learnt from reliable sources that the ministry had computed her terminal benefits already.

However, a ranking official of the ministry said it was true Patience had resigned voluntarily. The official, who did not want her name in print because she was not authorised to speak on the matter, said she was not aware of the resignation having political undercurrents.

She said, "I can say Patience Jonathan has voluntarily retired. But whether there is political undertone in her resignation or not, I cannot say.

"I think the First Lady felt that her continued stay as Permanent Secretary will be depriving others. Now that she has resigned, it will afford others the opportunity to take over her position.

"Already, in accordance with the civil service rules, we have prepared all her entitlements. Whatever is due her will be given to her. She will also be receiving her pension."

23-Year-Old Nigerian man arrested after Scaling White House fence! [Photos]

Dominic Adesanya, based in Maryland,  has been arrested after jumping the White House Fence. According to police reports, around 7.15pm yesterday Wednesday October 22nd, Adesanya, 23, climbed the fence on the North Lawn of the building and got about 20 yards past the fence before he was taken down by Secret Service and dogs.

He's currently in police custody but is being treated in a hospital for injuries he sustained during the encounter. He was attacked by K.9 dogs.

The White House was on a lock-down for about two hours after He jumped the fence. President Obama was said to be in the White House at the time of the incident. Police also said Adesanya was not armed.

According to his Facebook profile, he attended Stevenson University for business administration and management and Hartford Community College for an associate of science, along with partially business administration and management.

His father spoke with ABC 2 and said Adesanya had been arrested at the White House before and that the family had tried to get him help.

His jump comes weeks after a similar incident happened, prompting the resignation of the director of Secret Service, Julia Pierson on October 1st. In September, a 42 year old man named Omar Gonzalez also jumped the fence and got in the East room before he was arrested. Guess there will be more copycats. The Secret Service need to pay more attention.

Lagos 2015:Frontline gubernatorial aspirant and former Accountant General of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode,Declares at Onikan Stadium on Friday

Frontline gubernatorial aspirant and former Accountant General of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, will on Friday, October 24th, formally declare his intention to seek the candidacy of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to run for the office of the Lagos State Governor.

A statement from the campaign organisation of the politician, who was the first to pick an Expression of Interest Nomination form towards the Nov 15 APC primaries, said that the declaration will take place at the Onikan Stadium at 10am.

The press statement from Ambode's campaign office noted that the declaration is coming on the heels of the massive endorsement that the Epe-born Ambode got from Islamic clerics in Lagos State on Tuesday at the Blue Roof, Lagos State Television Complex, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
"Friday's declaration, which is expected to be a carnival-like endorsement of Ambode by stakeholders from all the 57 council areas in Lagos State is an opportunity for the frontline aspirant to thank party stalwarts, who have given him good reception during his year-long consultation and to sell his 5-point agenda of Continuity and Consolidation to Lagosians," the campaign office stated.

The campaign office informed that the approval to use Onikan Stadium for the declaration was personally granted by Governor Babatunde Fashola, who wrote glowingly about the civil service career of Ambode when the aspirant voluntarily retired in 2012.

The 51-year-old Ambode retired at the peak of his career in the Lagos State Civil Service after almost three decades, which took him round all the nooks and crannies of Lagos State Local Government and Civil Service establishment, an advantage which his supporters believe places him in a very good position to satisfy the aspirations of the voters.

Why I Abandoned My Children in that School for Eight Years –Father opens up

The father of the three children abandoned in a boarding school for eight years in Abule-Iroko in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, Mr Segun Adepegba, on Wednesday, reached out to Punch on the saga that led to him run away from his beautiful kids.

Adepegba said hardship pushed him to the wall and that was why he could not take care of his children.

The father of three, in a telephone interview with Punch, recounted his ordeal, saying, "life has been very tough for me." He said he left them because he was jobless and had no house to accommodate them.
While narrating his ordeal, he said, "In 2007, my wife and I had a misunderstanding and she told me she was leaving me. I was frustrated and the children were little. Seyi, the youngest was just two years while Titilola was just five.
"There was no way I could give them motherly care. I had no job. As a man, I needed someone to help me take care of them and that was why my sister suggested that we enrol them in a boarding school."
He, however, promised to visit them before the end of the week.

On Tuesday, Punch reported that Adepegba's children-Seun, 14, Titilola 13, and Seyi, 10, had been abandoned since 2007 at Solid Rock Model College in Abule-Iroko. The children, who had been eager to meet their parents, said the absence of their parents was affecting their studies.

For many years, the school authorities had been trying to reach Adepegba to no avail. The proprietor of the school, Mr Samuel Ayegbusi, had told our correspondent that any time he called Adepegba and he realised it was him, he would switch off his phones.

Adepegba, however, bowed to pressure after reading the report by Punch. He said that abandoning his children was inevitable, promising that he would visit the school.

Adepegba told PUNCH that when the children's bills kept accumulating and he had no means of paying, he was afraid that if he came to the school, the proprietor would get him arrested.

He said, "I feared that if I suddenly appeared at the school, the proprietor would get the police to arrest me. I really appreciate the proprietor of Solid Rock Model College, for coming to my rescue and accepting the responsibility to help me take care of my children. The truth is this: I was pushed to the wall. I didn't want my children to be beggars on the street.

"All these years, I have been jobless. I had no house to live in. I was putting up with someone. I just rented a one-room apartment and just got a job. I am not a wicked father. I really miss them but I am gradually overcoming the challenges I have been facing. I did not abandon them in that sense. I can assure you that before the week runs out, I will visit them."

Asked whether his wife had called him about how the children were doing, Adepegba said since she left him in 2007, he had not heard from her.

"The last time we saw each other was probably in 2007 when she left me. I have been trying to reach her but my search has not been fruitful. I heard that she is somewhere in the northern part of the country," he said.

However, the school proprietor said the school authorities had no intention of getting Adepegba arrested for his debt. He said he reported the matter to Ogun State Police Command because he was fed up.

He said, "I have nothing against Mr Adepegba and I understand his plight. My grievance was that he kept on rejecting my calls and abandoned his children. How could he as a father leave his children for this long? It is not a good thing."

It was learnt that the news of their father's return had lifted the heart of the children. The children were all smiles when they were told that their father had promised to return before the end of the week.

Speaking with PUNCH on phone on Wednesday, Seun, the eldest of the trio said, "I am very happy that daddy has promised to come back. It means I would not have to spend my holidays in the school again."

Titilola added, "I hope this is not another promise that will fail. I am really looking forward to seeing him because it will make me very happy."

Police Parade Dogs That Attacked 4Yr-Old Boy In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has stated that only the courts could decide the fate of the two dogs, which attacked and ate off the scalp on a four year old boy, Omonigho Abraham's head in Akesan Estate, Igando area of Lagos State, earlier this month.

The command, which paraded the two dogs at its headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos State on Tuesday, added that the dogs had been medially examined and found to be rabies and Ebola-free.

The State Commissioner of Police, Cornelius Aderanti, said it was important to parade the dogs so as to dismiss insinuations that they had been released to the owner.

He said, "We have brought the dogs out so that the public would know that they are still in police custody. They have been examined and show no negative trait. It is only the court that will decide what happens to them. The police cannot decide to kill the dogs".

A police veterinary officer, Yahaya Usman, also told journalists at the headquarters that the medical record showed the dogs had neither rabies nor other dog-related diseases.

He said, "So far, they have not shown any negative trait. The medical history shows that they don't have rabies or the Ebola Virus Disease. The dogs are with us, and only the court will determine what happens to the dogs".

You'll Lose If You Contest In 2015; Rivers APC warns Jonathan

•Insists ambition against national interest
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been advised not to bow to the pressure being mounted on him by selfish groups and individuals to contest the 2015 presidential election. Giving the advice in a statement in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) predicted that Jonathan will lose if he allows himself to be deceived into seeking re-election next year.
"The handwriting is already on the wall for President Jonathan in view of the calibre of leaders and unprecedented masses that attended the historic declaration of General Muhammadu Buhari to contest the 2015 presidential election. It has therefore become imperative for President Jonathan to start writing his handover notes as his game is up," Rivers APC said in the statement signed by the Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya.

According to Ikanya, "It is now clear why President Jonathan is scared and reluctant in accepting the call to contest the 2015 general election as evident in his recent statement: 'In deciding on an appropriate response to such calls, I will place the greater interests of national harmony, cohesion, unity, security, political stability, progress, equity, justice and fairness above any personal ambition or sectional agenda.' We must commend him for this wise stand as he knows that his contesting will not be in the greatest interest of national harmony.
"He must, therefore, perish the thought if he really loves Nigeria and wishes to promote the greatest interest of national harmony."

Rivers APC said that "if Dr. Jonathan however succumbs to the pressure of haters of Nigeria to contest the 2015 general election he should prepare to be the first sitting President to lose a general election since there is no basis whatsoever for him to win any election again as his record card shows that he is a failure. Today, Nigeria has never had it so bad as the present leadership under Jonathan has inflicted unimaginable suffering on Nigerians."

Dr. Ikanya noted that apart from the imminent failure awaiting him at the polls, Dr. Jonathan very well knows that his participation in the 2015 election would be totally immoral since he is not qualified to run, as he is presently enjoying a second term in office. "The Constitution of our country makes it clear that no one can enjoy three consecutive tenures as President and Jonathan is bound by the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution," Ikanya declared.

He expressed happiness over the high quality of tested and trusted leaders who have indicated interest to fly the flag of APC in its rescue mission. "PDP's reign these past fifteen years has brought shame and hardship to our nation and we must unite to salvage this nation from the hands of the present confused leaders of PDP," he said.

Rivers APC aligned with the position of its Leader, Governor Chibuike Amaechi, who recently asked President Jonathan from where he intends to get the votes that will get him elected in 2015 knowing that he has lost Lagos, Kano and Rivers states before the election as rigging will not be considered for the 2015 general election.

The statement concluded by echoing Amaechi's position: "For us as APC, we will line up behind the party. Go back home now and get your voters cards. We will punish these people. Rivers State is not in their hands. Lagos State is not in their hands. Kano State is not in their hands. So, tell me where we are going? They are banking on using security against us. We shall teach them a lesson. We will fight with our body, with our lives because there must be change this time.

"And I have said it again and again; there is no aspirant in APC that is not better than the aspirants in PDP. What we must do is not only to vote for the aspirants in support; we must also take the voters card so that when we finish nominating our candidate here, we will line behind that candidate and ensure that we will vote out Jonathan.

Jonathan & PDP Governors in closed door meeting over Buhari

The fear of Muhammadu Buhari is very real, especially with 14 governors now in APC. Consequently, the President, Goodluck Jonathan, has warned Peoples Democratic Party governors against backing any unpopular candidates as their successors in their respective states.

This is one of the issues discussed at the meeting the President had with the governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Sunday night. The meeting ended in the early hours of Monday.

The meeting was said to have discussed the presidential declaration of General Buhari on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

While some of the governors were said to have asked the President for "a Buhari challenge", others
were said to have dismissed it, saying that the former leader could not defeat the President in 2015 if he emerged as the candidate of the APC.

President Jonathan was said to have invited the governors to the meeting over the growing complaints of their move to endorse candidates in their respective states.

A source at the meeting, who spoke with PUNCH on condition of anonymity, said the President said he was not against the governors picking and working for their preferred candidates as their successors.

The source said, "The President said he was not against us (governors) picking our candidates, but that we should make sure we have a popular person without blemish. He said such a candidate must also be acceptable to the generality of the members of the party in our states and that the candidates must be able to win the election.

"It is wrong to say the President is against us. He also said that we should also make sure that the candidate must have a clean record so  the opposition will not capitalise on this against such a candidate."

The source said that the meeting also discussed the desire of some of the governors to vie for senatorial seats on the platform of the party.

While saying that no concrete agreement was reached on this, he said the meeting agreed that there would be another round of discussions, which he said would involve the national leadership of the party.

The issue of senatorial seats involving the governors and sitting senators is also causing confusion in some states as senators who the governors are angling to replace are said to be demanding that they should be made to also replace their state governors in 2015.

"If the governors want to take our position, they should also allow us to take their positions as governors," one of the aggrieved senators was said to have complained to the President.

Ekiti Assembly suspends recess for Fayose

The Ekiti State House of Assembly on Monday resumed work four days after the Speaker, Adewale Omirin, declared a month recess.

The PUNCH learnt that the Assembly started with the parliamentary, where it set the agenda for the week.

It would on Tuesday (today) begin plenary at its hallowed chamber in preparation for the screening of special advisers and commissioners to be appointed by the state Governor, Ayodele Fayose.

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, the Special Adviser to the Speaker, Media, Mr. Wole Olujobi, said the resumption was in the overriding public interest.

He said all the 26 members of the state House of Assembly had been contacted on the new development, assuring that the House sitting won't be tensed as feared.

It will be recalled that six All Progressives Congress lawmakers on Thursday at the inauguration ceremony of Fayose defected to the Peoples Democratic Party and were received by the National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu.

They are Olowo Ajiboye – Oye II; Adeloye Adeyinka, Ikole I; Abeni Olayinka, Ado II; Fatunbi Olajide, Moba II; Olugbemi Joseph, Ikole I and Adeojo Felix Ayodele, Ekiti South-West II.

The Speaker had, in a statement, alleged that the defected members were planning to impeach him and elect a new Speaker among them.

He, thereafter, declared a month recess citing the change of government as the reason for the decision.

The PUNCH gathered on Monday that Fayose has been locked in several moves to woo more APC members to the PDP and has made many mouth-watering offers to them.

According to a member of the Assembly who craved anonymity, one of such offers is the plan to write off their car loan.

"The governor has promised to write off the car loan we obtained to appease us. He has also promised to give us better package than those offered by Fayemi," the lawmaker said.

But the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, said he was not aware of any meeting between the governor and the lawmakers.

He said, "It is not true that His Excellency met with members of the House of Assembly. If he had not met them, how did he make the offer? The governor is concerned with governance. If anyone had met them, it would be at the party level."

(Must Read) Millionaire Pastors....Poor Members !

There is no doubt that church business is very lucrative. The overwhelming number of churches in Nigeria is a testament of how profitable owning a church is and if that is not enough evidence, then perhaps the recently published list of the top 10 richest pastors in the world where the top earner, Pastor David Oyedepo, is estimated to have a networth of $150m should suffice.

Most preachers sell the gospel as the pathway to riches. Feeding the desire of their followers to be rich even though it is contrary to what Paul said in 1 Timothy 6:6-10.

Motivated by stories of financial gain, out of the little they have, members pay their tithes and then go through the rigmarole of seed sowing. They sow the seed, water it, weed it and even fence it. The seed then become more important than seeking the kingdom of God. Matthew 6:33- "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

While giving is not wrong per se, a majority of these prosperity preachers are living a luxurious life off their poor members who are in dire need of help. Owning a multimillion-dollar private jet just to "oversee churches" while some members are living in poverty is acceptable by these preachers.

Being accustomed to life of luxury, some preachers with branches in the west gets carried away and spends church funds at will, which eventually lands them in murky situations.

While Christ Embassy is currently under investigation for alleged mismanagement of funds, the British government ordered Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo to pay back £200,000 in 2006 after it emerged that he used church assets to buy a £13,000 Florida time share and spent £120,000 on his birthday celebrations, including £80,000 which was spent on a car.

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor is currently embroilled in the controversy of how his private  jet was used to ferry  $9.3 million seized by the South African government. He is a friend of government as well as National President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Though members should be responsible for the needs of their pastors, making giving money a prerequisite for receiving from God is punitive.

It is a safe bet that a congregation with less than 500 members would surely have testimonies of people reaping from sowing but not everyone would experience such gain.

However, those who did not reap from sowing are not given a refund rather they are encouraged to sow more and believe more. The onus is placed on them and not the preacher who spoke confidently about the powers of sowing and they are thrust into a perpetual circle of giving and believing while the preachers travel the world in private jets, drive in fully air-conditioned cars, send their children to the best schools and have the best of everything.

The height of the irony is that; members cannot afford to send their children to the schools they helped establish and majority of these preachers benefited from free missionary schools.

Charity, which is a foundation of Christianity seems to have absconded. Even those claiming to be involved in charity are just using it as a façade

The church is now a market hub, everything is for sale. It is all about the cha-ching! cha-ching!! And if you do not have loads of it, then you are relegated to the bottom of the food chain.

I wonder what Jesus Christ would do if he walks into a church today.

If it is witty, edutaining and well reseached, chances are it was written by me *Michael*

Fayose Prostrates Flat on the Floor at Deeper Life Church; thanking God for Second Chance

Wife of the governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Feyisetan Fayose, has revealed the travails she and her husband went through for eight years after they were sacked from Government House on October 16, 2006.

Speaking at a thanksgiving testimony at the Deeper Life Bible Church in Ado Ekiti today, she said:
"God revealed to me that my husband, Mr Ayodele Fayose will return as the governor, but he never told me the time. God told me that our return would be done in such a way that will beat the people's imagination. But because of the trouble we went through, at a time I prayed to God to please push my husband out of politics. Later, God told me that He will leave him there for Him to prove His power.
"After we left, Gen Tunji Olurin came, Segun Oni and come Governor Kayode Fayemi and today God has manifested His power. This is not by our power or strength, but by the grace of God."
In his own testimony during the service, Fayose said he would resist any attempt by sycophants to mislead him in this second coming, which he has described as 'rare and divine.' He stressed that he had forgiven all his traducers

"Having a second chance is very rare. If this time has been in Bible days, my name would have been one of the names to be recorded as those who God gave a second chance. "My return to government is not common in history. It is a rare miracle. During the seven and half years of my political wilderness, I was taken to Court over what I knew and knew nothing about 59 times aside the 45 days I spent in Ikoyi Prisons during my trial by the EFCC.

"My Security aides and political aides like Chief Dayo Okondo were incarcerated for three and half years without committing any offence. I won't allow sycophants to derail me again. All my property were left in the Government House because I had to run for my dear life. So, this time my mission is to look after Ekiti people and not to fight anybody. I will not allow this position to go into my head or use it to oppress anybody. I don't have anybody in mind to punish or any political battle to fight", he added.

Buhari Will Serve only One Term as President like Mandela

A chief of the All Progressives Congress, Rotimi Fashakin, said General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has pledged to serve only one term four years if he is elected as the President of Nigeria in 2015.

Fashakin, who was the national publicity secretary of the defunct CPC, told PUNCH that Buhari would do for Nigeria what the late Nelson Mandela did for South Africa. He said the motive behind Buhari's fourth shot at the presidency was his desire to rescue Nigeria from corruption, stabilise it and then hand over to a younger person, who has the capacity to lead the country.
In his words: "Gen. Muhammadu Buhari would do a term of four years then hand the power over to somebody younger. You can take that to the bank. He is going to be the stabilising factor in Nigeria. Nigeria needs a strong leader like Buhari, who is in the mould of Mandela, who stabilised South Africa.
"That is what Buhari is going to do and four years are enough for him to do that. After stabilising the nation, he will hand over to somebody younger, whom he would have groomed. This is why we are asking Nigerians to give Buhari a chance. He has the capacity, temperament and courage to rescue and stabilise this country. Just four years of Buhari, Nigeria will not remain the same."

Fashakin added that it would be a disservice to the nation if Buhari is denied the chance of governing the country in 2015.

He assured that there is no doubt that Buhari would defeat Goodluck Jonathan at the February 14, 2015 presidential election, adding that most of those who voted Jonathan in 2011 would vote Buhari in 2015.

He said, "In article 20 of the APC constitution, consensus is the most preferred way of choosing our leaders because in consensus all interests are considered. That is democracy. It's a welcome development that we are working towards a consensus.

"We pray that the best will happen in that scenario so that Nigerians can be given the benefit of enjoying a new lease of life come 2015."

Jonathan has been Defeated by Buhari in another Poll set up By Presidency Supporters

Since General Muhamadu Buhari openly declared his 2015 presidential ambition in Abuja, fear has griped the top men in the Presidency. So, few hours after an online opinion poll gave Buhari about 60% victory over President Goodluck Jonathan if the elections were to hold today, a group working for the Presidency hurriedly set up their own opinion poll, on a faccebook platform filled with Jonathan's supporters.

But to their surprise, Buhari still defeated Jonathan in their opinion poll by 50 to 46 percent. #Trouble

Fear Grips Presidency over Buhari’s Big Declaration in Abuja

Fear of Muhammadu Buhari is in the air! There is disquiet in the Presidency and the PDP over the crowd-pulling declaration rally of the leading presidential aspirant of the APC, General Buhari.

The massive rally has forced the Presidency and its strategists to return to the drawing board against the fast growing influence of Buhari in the political landscape.

It was gathered that strategists in the Presidency and the PDP met on Wednesday and Thursday to analyse the rally, especially the massive turn-out of Nigerians at the Eagle Square and how some key APC leaders queued up behind General Buhari.
It was gathered that the presence of notable and influential political leaders from the North-West, North-East, North-Central and South-West forced the Presidency and PDP leaders into a series of meetings.
In one of the sessions in Abuja, it was learnt that some parts of the Gen. Buhari's speech upset the Presidency...

According to The Nation, although some strategists attempted to underrate the rally, the Presidency and the PDP thought otherwise.

A source who spoke in confidence said: "Contrary to the permutations of some forces in the Presidency and PDP, the huge crowd at the declaration indicated that Buhari is still enjoying large following.

"The wrong assumptions in the ruling party were that Buhari's influence had waned since 2011 election and the emergence of other presidential aspirants in APC might reduce his chances.

"Some APC leaders and governors at the rally also lent credence to the readiness of the opposition to support Buhari for the party's ticket."

A member of the NWC of the PDP said: "We are not underrating the implications of Buhari's declaration rally. We have woken up to the reality that we must gird our loins. With Buhari, the battle has started. Our leaders are already doing some rethinking because we know what Buhari's candidacy portends for our party.

A source in the PDP Governors Forum said: "I cannot deceive you, we met on Wednesday night on some issues and Gen. Buhari's declaration rally took the central stage because he seems to be in control of the North-East and North-West.

"And if you look at the North-Central, APC is certainly stronger in Niger, Kwara, Benue and Nasarawa. To us, the forthcoming poll might not be an easy ride as being projected by some strategists in the Presidency."

In fact, there is in fighting in the PDP now. There were indications that PDP governors have resolved to either be allowed to anoint their successors or leave the party to its fate in next year's poll.

Buhari and Fashola Presidential Ticket will defeat Jonathan

The last time Muhammadu Buhari contested against Goodluck Jonathan, he had no governor but got over 12 million votes. Remarkable! Today APC has 14 governors and strong structures across Nigeria.

A leader of the APC in Lagos, Chief Ayo Akande, has said that APC would win the 2015 presidential poll if the party picks Buhari as its presidential candidate and Gov. Babatunde Fashola, as running mate.

Akande, in a statement on Thursday, described a Buhari/Fashola ticket as the "best option" for APC.
In his words, "A Buhari/Fashola combination stands to offer lot of advantages. We all know Buhari as a man of good virtue, who did not corruptly enrich himself. The APC stands a better chance to defeat President Goodluck Jonathan who has been endorsed as the sole candidate of the PDP for the 2015 presidential election.
"A Buhari/Fashola team would give the Peoples Democratic Party a good fight in the presidential elections.
"The antecedents of Buhari as a military head of state in terms of war against indiscipline and corruption and Fashola's self-discipline and accountability would give the APC the long-sought exalted seat of the president of the country."

Buhari on Wednesday declared his ambition to run for the post of the president on the platform of the APC. If he emerges the APC candidate, he will be contesting the presidency for the fourth time.

Fashola has been the governor of Lagos State since 2007.

Jonathan has been endorsed as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2015 poll.

Akande, who noted that the Buhari/Fashola ticket was his personal suggestion, said corruption would be effectively curbed in the country while poverty would be drastically reduced to the barest level.

Akande also commended Fashola's achievements in Lagos, saying he deserved a higher responsibility, having performed well as governor for eight years.
"Fashola will make a good president but if the presidency is zoned to the North, then he will make a perfect running mate to Buhari," he added.

Boko Haram, Nigerian Military finally reach Ceasefire agreement

After several months of government ground-standing, leading to the death over 13,000 innocent Nigerians in the hands of the heartless Boko Haram terrorists, we gathered that the Nigerian military and the extremist sect have finally reached an immediate ceasefire.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, also confirmed this development on Friday.

Already, the international media have reported that the Presidency and Boko Haram leadership are in some kind of peace meeting over the release of more than 200 schoolgirls abducted on April 14, 2014.

Boko Haram has finally agreed to released the girls, but some of the commanders must be freed.

As at the time of publishing, the full details of the ceasefire agreement the Federal Government reach with the Boko Haram leaders are still sketchy but Mr. Badeh has ordered all field officers to comply with the agreement, until further notice.

Consequently, if the peace deal is respected, there will be no more killings and bombings in the North East of Nigeria, and hopefully all the issues would be resolved once and for all.

This is what we have been advocating for. We know that government forces can defeat the Boko Haram members but the process will lead to the death of thousands of innocent people who are our brothers and sisters. So, dialogue remains the best option.

NFF sacks Stephen Keshi, replaces him with Amodu Shuaibu

Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi and the team's coaching staff have been sacked despite beating Sudan 3-1 last night. The Nigerian Football Federation, announced his sack today October 16th after an emergency meeting which held last night in Abuja. Explaining the sack, the NFF said;
"In the interest of Nigeria football and the desire to ensure qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals, the Committee decided to relieve them of their duties with immediate effect."
Keshi has been replaced with 56 year old Amodu Shuaibu who has coached the national team before. Shuaibu is an interim coach pending when they get a new coach. Personally, I find this annoying!
