Nigerian women’s wear label Mi-Le
(Mee-Lay) has skilfully merged the art of flowers and fashion to
produce its Autumn 2013/2014 collection lookbook. For this collection
the designer Ponmile Olawoye has incorporated the study of botany – the concept of evolution and structure of plants – and 1930′s and 1940′s fashion.
The collection consists of draped one piece suits and cocktail dresses with asymmetrical detail. According to the designer “This
collection was inspired by a flower native to Africa, “ADENIUM
MULTIFLORUM”- a winter blooming plant. Its flowers and leaves will begin
to develop on the plant during winter and they will last until summer.“
