Boko Haram Is Just Messing Up Nigeria Cheaply
The All Progressives Congress has described as a national embarrassment, the increasing seizure of Nigerian towns by the terrorist group Boko Haram and the reported fleeing of 480 Nigerian soldiers to Cameroon during an attack on a military base in Gamboru-Ngala on Monday.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party called on President Goodluck Jonathan to urgently address the worsening security situation in the northern part of the country before it's too late.
It said in the face of the biggest threat to Nigeria's unity and territorial integrity since the country's civil war, Jonathan must put partisanship aside and rally the nation against Boko Haram, which seems to be getting bolder and stronger, to the extent of hoisting its flag over parts of the nation's territory.
APC also restated its call for an urgent national stakeholders' conference on security that will cut across party lines. It also pledged support for any sincere effort by the Federal Government to end the insurgency.
As a first step, the party said President Jonathan should halt the illegal electioneering campaign by his Ministers, appointees, supporters, saying Nigeria must survive as a nation before any party or individual can rule over it.
My Wife Used Juju to Make Me Marry Her ––Husband Reveals
The woman, Rianat Aguntasoolo, told the Grade C customary court at Agodi-Gate that Lukman does not carry out his responsibilities as the head of the house.
She said, "There is always trouble in our home because we fight nearly everyday. He has abandoned me for his first wife. Lukman doesn't cater for me and our children. The moment I challenged him for not performing his duties at home he began to accuse me of committing adultery. He would go as far as checking my belongings and spying on me all the time."
But in his response, Lukman revealed that his wife's children did not belong to him...
He accused her of sleeping around. He claimed that his wife had been invlolved in an extral marital affairs with an Alfa who rented her an apartment before he met her.
"I later opened a shop for her. I thought Rianat was going to change from her old ways but she rather became worse. She would go out and come home late in the night. Rianat is promiscuous, I don't want her as my wife any longer," he said.
Lukman accused her of using diabolic means to marry him, after he allegedly found devilish materials (juju) in her wardrobe which he brought as evidence to the court.
The court concluded that the case between the couple was a complicated one, and called for DNA test to be conducted in order to determine the father of the children.
The court president, Chief Amusa Makinde, adjourned the case till 27 August.

Shan George:
Shan first got married as a teenager but left the marriage after giving birth to two boys. She later married a US-based guy, Tony Nwosisi, but she later found out that the man was married to another woman who had given him children at the time of his marriage to Shan, so she decided to quit the marriage for good.

Finally, Ebola Has Been Successfully Contained In Nigeria
Read the full statement Below:
Today is the 38th day since the Ebola Virus Disease was imported into Nigeria by a Liberian-American.
As of today, 26th August, 2014, Nigeria has had thirteen (13) cases of EVD including the index case.
Of these thirteen (13), five (5), including the index case unfortunately did not survive the disease and are now late.
However, seven (7) of the infected persons were successfully managed at the Isolation ward in Lagos and have been discharged home.
Two (2) of treated patients, a male doctor and a female nurse were discharged yesterday evening, 25th August, 2014 having satisfied the criteria for discharge.
As I speak to you, Nigeria has only one confirmed case of Ebola...
It's a secondary contact of late Mr. Patrick Sawyer's and spouse of one of the physicians who participated in the management of the index case. She is stable but still on treatment at the Isolation ward in Lagos.
So far, all the reported cases of the EVD in Nigeria have their root in the index case, the late Mr. Patrick Sawyer. This is an indication that, thus far, Nigeria has contained the disease outbreak.
I wish to reassure Nigerians and indeed the global community that the Government shall remain vigilant and will not relent as Government continues to work with her partners to ensure that the disease is kept out of the country.

UPDATE: Three More PDP Governors Set To Decamp To APC
Two of the governors to join the opposition are from the North. The other one is from the South, he said and that their move will happen in September.
Wamakko said: "We met here to first and foremost put a functional zonal office and other offices to fill the gap and to hold zonal rallies to kick start our party's victory stride by 2015.
"As I am talking to you now, three PDP governors are set to join the APC between now and the end of September. Two of the governors are from the North while the third one is from the South."
Wamakko made the revelations in Kaduna last night for the APC Northwest caucus meeting to strategise with a view to taking over power from the PDP in 2015.
When asked to comment on allegations that he has an anointed candidate to take over from him, the governor said: "Only God makes leaders, I cannot tell you who will succeed me in Sokoto State."
On the defection of former EFCC chairman, Nuhu Ribadu from the APC to the PDP, he declined comment on the issues because, according to him, Ribadu is a man of his own who can take decisions for himself.

Florence Amagiya of Vanguard, present to you an entertainer, an icon and a sensational singer. Enjoy...
Yinka Ayefele
Sensational singer and entertainer, Yinka Ayefele needs no introduction to many Nigerians especially to those in the western part of the country. He is the first born of his parents, born in 1968. Ayefele completed his Primary and Secondary education at Ipoti-Ekiti in Ondo state. He went further to Ondo state College of arts from where he got a diploma.
Ayefele worked as a broadcast journalist before venturing into music. He began his career as a freelance journalist with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria {FRCN}, Ibadan, Nigeria and later joined Radio Nigeria in 1990 or thereabout.
His music career did not begin until he suffered the fatal accident that nearly claimed his life in 1997. Although Ayefele has been confined to a wheel chair after a spinal cord injury, it didn't stop him from developing his music talents and went ahead to become a household name.
Yinka Ayefele's songs are dynamic in nature. His songs are a blend of Gospel, Juju, Fuji and sometimes Makosa. His his first album was titled Bitter experience.
The album, Bitter experience, was said to have motivated his second album – Sweet experience. He turned his ordeals to success within few years and soared higher as the years went by. He remains the most sought-after entertainer at parties. And he charges as much as N5-6m per event depending on the location. He charges 2.5 million naira for events in Lagos and the environs and five to six million naira for events in Abuja, depending the time of the year. Ayefele is booked all round the year and has more than eight events per mouth. He charges about $10,000 for events abroad.
Properties
The sensational singer has a huge office complex, Yinka Ayefele's Music House, which houses his office, studio, and other businesses. The Music House cost him roughly N150m to complete. Cars, clothes and perfumes
Yinka Ayefele is a car frk. Hs he has a lot of cars in his , arage mostly SUVs. He has a black Ford Explorer, 2014, worth 14 million naira. He also has a Land Cruiser worth 12 million naira and other cars too numerous to mention. Ayefele spends a lot of money on clothes and expensive perfumes.
This Is Why Nigeria Can Never Be Better
In countries where they are making progress, the leaders don't see themselves as superior to another human as all are treated equally. If a President or Governor commits a crime, the Attorney-General of the country do not waste time to order for the arrest of such top government official, no matter his position.
But here, once a man is elected or appointed into any office, he begins to act like a god. Nigerians, wake up!

Obasanjo Cries Out: the Economy Today is Worse than Abacha
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday drew similarities between the present state of the economy and the way it was during the regime of General Sani Abacha, saying the current situation has wiped out the middle class.
Obasanjo said a distress message he received from a Nigerian requesting financial assistance clearly indicated that the middle-class has been destroyed. The former president, who was addressing a group of traders who visited him in Abeokuta on Sunday, read out the distress message sent to him by SMS.
"I told him (sender of the message) we experienced this at the time of Abacha, the middle class was completely destroyed", Obasanjo said.
The former president also told his guests about a Senior Military personnel who could not afford a new car, saying that was a big surprise to him. He said: "I was surprised the day a Colonel in the Army came to me complaining that he and his family could not afford to buy a car (without stealing government money)."
Obasanjo also cited a medical doctor's family that had to relocate outside the country to survive. "A friend, Dr. Okoro, was a medical doctor, his wife was also a medical doctor and they have a daughter who is also a medical doctor, but they could not afford a new car, and had to go to Saudi Arabia", he said.
But he said the situation did not change his conviction that tough times do not last forever, and when tough times come, tough people get going.
On the way forward, he said Nigerians have to be alert and vigilant, adding, "To be fore-warned is to be fore-armed, if we will get ourselves out of the morals we find ourselves in, it has to be done by each and every one of us. We all have contributions to make and should not leave our responsibilities for others. If we fail to participate in things that are meaningfully positive for this country, we will all become victims".
He said as far as the next political dispensation is concerned, he could not decide yet.
"As for me, we don't know where we are going yet, may God show us the way to take this country and make it great. For me, I understand and I see the way, I will tell you, I pray that God will show me the way, may God show you the way."
O
The economy is so bad today. The only ones living large are those stealing government money with impunity:

My Husband Left Me Just After One Month of Our Marriage ––Comedian Princess
You didn't say what was wrong with you that you had to be hospitalised?
But you already know. We thank the Lord. The most important thing is that I am alive and better. I appreciate life more. But this one you are asking, e no reach make I sick? After my husband left after our wedding, was it not enough reason for me to be sick? Ah! The Lord is our strength.
Were you shocked with the kind of publicity it generated?
I was shocked! People called me from all parts of the world including China. Some people cried while some people felt happy. Some guys said they were happy my marriage ended. Some said they were not happy that I even married the guy. Some said I looked older than him. Some said my marriage shouldn't have ended just like that. People talked and talked. But the only time you know your marriage is successful is when you live with your partner and God calls one of you home. Marriage of 30 years can still break up. It is a bad thing for a marriage to breakup. So you can imagine the unhappiness the parties involved would be going through. Nobody is happy when his/her marriage ends. Some people see me outside and ask, 'your marriage has ended, how do you feel?' I will answer them that I am jumping up or how else do they expect me to feel? Nonsense! A comedian once said that 'complete' and 'finish' appear to have the same meaning but they are not the same. If you marry the right person, you are complete but if you marry the wrong person, you are finished.
Were you in love with him in the first place?
I got married to somebody who I was in love with. At that time, he also said he loved me. Unfortunately, the marriage ended too soon.
Why did it end so soon?
It was due to irreconcilable differences. It is not a thing of joy. I don't think we should celebrate sadness and bad news. We should be more sensitive. No marriage should end but peradventure it does, don't make a mockery of that person. You are not even mocking the person, you are mocking God.
Are you giving it another shot?
No! Me ke? Let us struggle first and make some money. In any case, I think I should marry a Chinese or an Indian. If many people agree that I should marry a Chinese, then I will go ahead. But a Japanese might be better. Japanese products are strong and reliable.
Is your ex-husband still your friend?
I don't think you should call him my 'ex-husband' because we were together for less than one month. An ex- husband is somebody you marry and after three years or more, you separate. Anyway, I don't know where he is. We have moved on.
Wasn't the break-up your fault?
No. it wasn't my fault. I can't really say it was his fault too. It was just irreconcilable differences. We met and we were in love and we quickly got married. Maybe we got married too quickly but I have seen people who got married a month after they met and the marriage lasted. Our own didn't work out. There is no need to apportion blame.

Student Shot Dead By Lecturer For Hugging His Girlfriend
The lecturer escaped from the scene after he shot the student at close range for "hugging his girlfriend" during a party in a bar at Alihami Community.
Sources at the bar said the lecturer was infuriated when the student walked into the party and hugged the lady who is also a female student of the same department and before he could sit down, the lecturer ran into his car, brought out a gun, shot the student and released a volley of gun shots into the air before escaping from the bar...
The sound of the gun, according to Leadership, attracted men of the Nigeria Police, Agbor Division who were on patrol of the area. They intervened and managed to bring the situation under control.
Meanwhile, sources at the police divisional headquarters in Agbor confirmed the arrest of the lecturer and the gun he used to perpetrate the act has been recovered.
All things being equal, the stupid lover-man lecturer would be charged to court at the end of investigation.

The Plight Of People With Physical Disability In Nigeria
Although our plight is glaring, yet only few persons have taken steps aimed at making life more comfortable for us - the best others have done is to sympathize with us. Although their sympathy is appreciated, that is actually not what we need. What we would have preferred them to do is to translate those sympathy into actions which could help address some of the challenges we face in our daily living.
The biggest challenge to being physically disabled is the stigma attached to it. A lot of people still do not see persons with disability as being able to contribute meaningfully to the development of the society. Some still hold on to the belief that a person's disability is as a result of a curse upon him, or as a consequence of his many sins or the sins of his forefathers. Such beliefs has made persons with disability to be treated with contempt, and seen as inferior in the society.
A similar challenge to that is the fact that some people see persons with physical disability as beggars. Probably, due to some disabled destitute that some had seen in their neighbourhood (who would possibly not be there if the society had done the right things), they have generalized this, and now consider anybody with a disability as a beggar. This has made some people not to give the disabled the needed attention when approached. For instance, there was a day I went to a Cybercafe; when I stepped in, I greeted the lady in charge and told her that I want to browse for one hour. She did not even care to listen to what I said because( judging from the look on her face on sighting me) she had thought that I was there to beg for money. It was after she had attended to two other customers, who came in after me, and saw that I was still standing where I was that she then looked at me with contempt and said: "what do you want?"
Also, the plight of people with physical disability has been made worse as a result of them not being considered when basic infrastructures and amenities are being provided. For example, a person on wheel chair living in Nigeria today, will find it difficult to gain entrance into most Nigerian banks. This is because provisions has not been made by the banks for such people. Also, many buildings have been constructed without ramps, and the same goes for the way some roads are constructed, which are not disabled-friendly. It takes real guts for a person with disability to make use of commercial buses in Nigeria, as many drivers and conductors are not blessed with the kind of patience that would make them understand that such a person cannot jump in and out of the bus like every other commuter. Those are just few examples of how the society has failed, and is still failing, in considering the plight of the disabled when amenities are being put in place and services are being rendered.
Moreover, the unemployed status of many physically-challenged persons has not helped matters, in fact, it has only compounded the already terrible situation they found themselves in. For those who were lucky to get educated, getting a job has always been a problem. Many private organizations would prefer to employ an able-bodied applicant even if the job in question does not require much physical activity. Most of the uneducated ones who possibly learnt a trade do not have the money to start-up what they learnt, while many did not even get the needed support to either learn a trade or get educated. Such are the isolated ones, who sooner than later become the destitute on the streets.
As pathetic as the situation of things seem for persons with physical disability, things can change for the better if the society will change their perception of persons with disability and see them as an integral part of the society. People must know that disability is not a curse, and that persons with disability are not destined to be beggars; and that starts with the parents and relatives of disabled persons. They should not isolate them, rather, they should show them the much needed love and give them the required support.
Individuals, government, and corporate organizations should endeavour to always put disabled persons into consideration when facilities and infrastructures are being put in place.
Furthermore, it would go a long way in helping the plight of persons with disability if assistance is given in the provision of needed aids and equipments. Although some NGOs and corporate organizations have been helping in this regard (which we are really grateful for), we however plead for more to be done as most disabled persons cannot afford the cost of these aids.
As regards the employment of the disabled, we plead for a level playing field in recruitment processes, especially in private organizations. It would also go a long way in getting disabled persons employed if the capital to start-up businesses can be provided for them with little or no interest attached to it. The government should also put modalities in place to rehabilitate the disabled destitute and reintegrate them into the society.
It would however be unfair of me if I fail to give kudos to the Lagos State government that has taken the bull by the horn by putting the Lagos State Special People's law in place, which seeks to uphold the rights of all persons living with any form of disability in Lagos State. I enjoin other states to take a cue from this, and put similar laws in place in their states. However, it is important to state that it is not just about putting the law in place, but enforcing it, that will bring about a better life for persons with disabilities.
Finally, the government should create a working forum, or fora, as the case may be, where they will regularly meet with the disabled in order to know what they need and how to make life more comfortable for them, as it is only a person who wears the shoe that knows where it pinches.

I want President Jonathan to Lose 2015 Election –Police Officer
Speaking with the Voice of America, Hausa Service, monitored in Abuja on Tuesday, the policeman who did not give his name said he was happy that the APC won the Osun governorship election on Saturday.
The policeman who decried the lack of prompt payment of their monthly allowances said they are tired of the PDP-led government which does not take proper care of security personnel in the country.
"I'm a security man. I'm happy with the way APC won the election. Frankly speaking, PDP has weakened the status of security agencies," he said, adding that "Since we went to Yobe, six months ago, it was only day before yesterday that they gave us one month allowance, and they're supposed to be giving us N15,000 every month. I went there under special duties of JTF. I'm a policeman.
"It's not appointing a new Inspector-General that is our problem; our problem is that they don't take care of security men in the whole country. We want change of leadership so that the new leaders will take care of security personnel. We can't be battling with hunger at the same time with our families."
The embittered policeman said although people say Nigerian politicians are birds of the same feather, he sees a bit a difference from those in APC and he believes they will perform better to prove a point when elected.
"Yes, it's true, but we have to see other politicians' actions and policies too. We can't continue with this crop of leaders. PDP has been ruling for more than 10 years now."
2015: Speaker Tambuwal In Secret Meeting With Obasanjo
Tambuwal, who arrived at the ex-president's residence around 5.30pm, left around 6.18pm. It was gathered that the visit might not be unconnected with the speaker's 2015 political ambition. It is strongly believed that the Speaker is nursing a presidential ambition.
However, his media aide, Mr. Imam Imam, said Tambuwal and Obasanjo only rubbed minds on the state of the nation and how to move it forward.
He said, "You know Baba is father to all in the country. The visit was a consultation. It is about rubbing minds on how to move the country forward and make Nigeria better."
Asked whether the visit was in connection with Tambuwal's rumoured presidential ambition in 2015, Imam said he could not confirm that because it was a closed door meeting between Tambuwal and Obasanjo.
He said, "I can't say anything on that because it was a closed door meeting. About the presidential ambition, that also I cannot comment on. Let's wait till 2015 and then we will address that."

Meet The Strong Man Called OGBENI AREGBESOLA
He was on April 12 this year endorsed as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state for governorship election. The emergence of Aregbesola was preceded by congresses. The governor, who had no opponents, was endorsed as the flag bearer of the party.
The Nasir el-Rufai-led committee supervised the primary election in which Aregbesola was endorsed. While he was giving him the certificate of return, el-Rufai said 269,631 members of the party voted the for governor for a second term out 355,390 members who registered in 332 wards across the state.
But before becoming the state governor in 2010, Aregbesola had...
Served as the Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure for eight years. He left the Lagos State Government to contest the governorship election in Osun in 2007, on the platform of the defunct AC.
At the end of the election, INEC under Maurice Iwu declared Olagunsoye Oyinlola of the Peoples Democratic Party, the winner of the election. The former commissioner and his party contested the result, taking Oyinlola and the INEC to court.
In May 2008, Aregbesola called over 100 witnesses and tendered 168 exhibits in his petition before the Election Petitions Tribunal, alleging violence and ballot boxes stuffing in the election.
In August 2009, the police arrested Aregbesola for involvement in the alleged forgery of a police report on the conduct of the election. Later that month, he sought bail to enable him to perform the lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
Exactly one year later, in August 2010, the police summoned Aregbesola to make a statement about a June 14, 2007, bomb explosion near the ministry of water resources. Aregbesola denied any involvement, stating that he was in Abuja at the time. He was let off the hook by the police and continued to pursue, in the court, what he referred to as his stolen mandate.
The case was moved from the election tribunal to the Federal Appeal Court in Ibadan.
After several dramatic exchanges in the courtroom, which lasted three-and-a-half years, Justices of the Appeal Court finally declared Aregbesola winner of the 2007 election, ordering that he be sworn in as governor by noon on November 27, 2010.
Upon assumption of office as governor of Osun state, the former Lagos State commissioner outlined what he called his Six Point Integral Action Plan which focused on agriculture, economic and youth development, health, education and security.
The six points are to banish poverty; banish hunger; banish unemployment; restore healthy living; promote functional education; and enhance communal peace and progress. These, the governor said would seek "to ensure that the fruits of economic development positively impact as many lives as possible" in Osun.
Aregbesola's interest in politics dated back to his undergraduate days, when he served as the Speaker of the Students' Union Parliament at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

I'm Still In PDP But PDP Will Lose Osun Election –Obasanjo
I am still a member of the PDP. Or do you want to pursue me out of PDP (laughs). Don't forget, I am founding member of PDP, a party under which banner I became the President for 8years. I was later made the Chairman BoT. Why will I leave PDP?... PDP is a very big family, the largest party in Africa. When the time comes, we would re-unite and tighten loose end.
Are you going to support President Goodluck Jonathan for 2nd term
Is he contesting again? I have not been informed.
You were absent from PDP rally in Ekiti where your estranged godson, Fayose won convincingly. Now, Osun election is coming, what is your take on this? Are you going to campaign for Omisore?
See when it boils down to performance, overall development and general welfare of the people he governs in Osun, I salute his spirit. Aregbesola has changed what we used to know as Osun. And the physical manifestations are not only in papers but can be seen by even the PDP man. It is not about the party but the person who administers, Aregbesola has his weaknesses but he is above board. Don't get me wrong Omisore has paid his dues in Osun politics, nobody is saying Omisore can't contest, if I were him I would wait for this man to finish his 8years and then launch myself"

Guy Stabs Girlfriend to Death for Refusing to Marry Him in Lagos
Time was 8.30pm, shortly after the Anietie family whom Gift stayed with, had dinner. While other members of the family retired early, Gift announced that she was going to meet her boyfriend, who was well known by the family.
But apprehension reportedly set in when she did not return by midnight. Tension, heightened after efforts to reach her on the phone proved abortive as it was discovered to be switched off...
Next day, the family's fear was confirmed following the visit of a woman later discovered to be a management staff of Mayor Guest house located at 10 Yusuf Eleran street, Ketu. The woman was said to have invited Gift's sister , Mrs Ume Anietie to Fine Day hospital at Elebiju street, where she was informed that Gift had passed on!
Love gone sour
Gift, as gathered, was stabbed in the arm and breast by her boyfriend, Raphael at the guest house.
A man who claimed to have witnessed it all told Crime Guard that: "I was seeing a friend off, when I heard the shout of help from the hotel. I sensed all was not well and went to the hotel to inform the staff. They told me it was normal to hear lovers shout. But I insisted that the shout was not that of pleasure but of panic and pain. It was at that point that we all rushed to the room and forced the door open. To our disbelief, we saw a lady on the floor with a deep cut in her hand from where blood was gushing out. The man with her was holding a pair of scissors .
At first, nobody knew what to do. We told the man to take her to the hospital but he could not carry her because she was big in size. We all carried her outside with blood still gushing out from the deep cut in her hand.
It took about 30 to 40 minutes before she was rushed to Fine Day hospital. Even when she got there, the doctors did not attend to her on time. It was not until the Police at Alapere division called and instructed them to commence treatment on her that they started attending to her and we left", the eye witness narrated.
Her Last words
Doctors at Fine Day hospital were said to have managed to revive Gift. In an inaudible tone, she was said to have told some of the hospital staff that it was not the first time Raphael would beat her.
According to one of the hospital workers who spoke on condition of anonymity: "She told us that was not the first time her boyfriend would beat her. She said anytime he sees her with any man, he would beat her, even in the open. She also said that was why she decided not marry him, so that he would not kill her someday".
At a point, Gift could not reportedly speak, as she complained of weakness. Unfortunately, she could not owing to loss of blood. Had blood been transfused into Gift, she would have probably lived to share her ordeal, Crime Guard gathered.
Why I killed her
Raphael as gathered, attempted to escape, on noticing the magnitude of his action. But he was apprehended by staff of the hotel who handed him over to policemen at Alapere, from where he was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department,SCID, Yaba, Thursday.
At the SCID, Raphael told operatives of the Homicide section that he stabbed Gift because she refused to marry him.
According to the Akwa-Ibom State suspect: "I never knew she would die. I never meant to kill her. I only wanted to threaten her with the scissors. We have been going out for a year and I loved her so much... I proposed to her but she turned down my proposal, saying she couldn't marry me. I have begged her several times to have a change of mind but she didn't.
"I have invested so much on her with the hope of marrying her some day. But I never knew she was only deceiving me, by playing on my intelligence. I just could not stand her getting married to another person. The mere thought of that sends me crazy", he said, begging the deceased's family members to forgive him.
But members of the deceased's family are of the opinion that the act was preconceived, asking why the suspect took a scissors to the guest house in the first place.
The late Gift, as gathered, was a fashion designer. She was said to have been living with her sister since 2005, from where she went to secondary school and thereafter, learnt fashion designing. Until her death, she was said to have sewn wedding gowns for different would -be brides, including those of their bridal trains, with the hope of sewing for herself someday.
She was said to have boasted to close friends that she would make the best for herself when the time came, unaware that she would not live to witness the day. She had reportedly told close friends that her choice of husband was a God-fearing man, little wonder she accepted to go out with Raphael in the first instance , as they met in the church. But along the line, Raphael reportedly left the church, shortly after which he started demonstrating his battering tendency.
The deceased's elder sister , Mrs Anietie, who is yet to come to terms with Gift's demise, said amidst tears: "She was a very hard working lady. She was cheerful and was like a daughter to me. I will forever miss her".
Spokes person for the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide , said the suspect would be charged to court at the end of investigation.
Just Before The People Of Osun Decides NANS prsident have this to say
As an ideologically based organization, rooted, grounded and cerebral, we viewed it as a matter of necessity to place on records, for the sake of history and posterity that our members in Osun, the land of living spring, know where we stand before they decide.
Without any iota of doubt and without equivocation, the National Association of Nigerian Students wishes to state categorically that we are for free, fair and credible elections as a panacea to sustaining and deepening our democratic experience across Nigeria and particularly now that the people of Osun go to the poll to pick the governor of their choice.
As one of the formidable foot soldiers who fought against the tyrannical and despotic regimes the military represents alongside other pro-democracy platforms, that led to the restoration of democracy to Nigeria, it is important we let the whole world know we are against any attempt to circumvent the tenets of democracy as far as the August 9th governorship election in Osun State is concerned.
Greatest Nigerian Students! We urge those of you that domicile in Osun to troop out on August 9th and vote for any candidate of your choice having in mind that the exercise has implications for the future well-being of our people. As such, it should be approached with all the seriousness it deserves.
We urge you to vote rightly! Vote for character! Vote your best personality! Vote for integrity! Vote for tradition! Cast your vote for virtue! Use your vote to uphold the sanctity of the ballot box! Vote for competence. Reject acts that work to make students gangsters.
Fellow Nigerian Students, once again, we wish to say that our stand on the Osun State governorship poll is that, it should be free, fair and creditably conducted. We say to no rigging, violence, intimidation, harassment and disenfranchisement of eligible voters.
Further more, while we support the move of the Federal Government to mobilize security men to all the nooks and crannies of Osun in order to ensure that the election is free and fair, we wish to state without any fear or favor that the security situation in Osun State, as we speak, does not warrant mobilizing the men of the Nigerian Army for election purposes instead of its constitutional role of maintaining and securing the country from any form of external aggression. Election is a civil matter, and our position is that it should be treated by people with civil minds.
Be that as it may, may we state that as the most informed and radical youth movement in Nigeria, we shall ensure that the electoral brouhaha that lead to the collapse of first, second and third Republics is avoided in Nigeria starting fromOsun State Governorship Election.
Lastly, we urge Nigerian Students of Osun State origin, to vote for the candidate that values education! Education is a right and not a privilege. We implore you to Vote for the candidate who will truthfully give you access to quality and affordable education! We beg of you not to sell your vote.
The only panacea for development in a complex nation like Nigeria is to have characters embedded with virtues, integrity and as Plato opined, philosophical skills, at the corridor of power.
Therefore, we urge Osun Students and all voters to think wisely before they cast their votes.
Long Live Osun State
Long Live Nigeria
Long Live NANS

Naija Big Girl Prostitute Patoo Abraham Leads Protest In Lagos
Patoo Abraham has become famous for fighting for the rights of prostitutés, but what she - and those she is trying to help - do to make a living is illegal and frowned upon by many in the country.
Patoo is not only proud of her profession but is also campaigning to ensure that prostitution is legalised and that séx workers are respected in Africa's most populous country, Nigeria.
The 48-year-old has led a couple of protests in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital, demanding the rights of prostitutés in a country where séx vendors suffer physical harm at the hands of their punters...
Under the auspices of different organisations, scores of prostitutes marched on the streets of Lagos, chanting provocative slogans.
This boldness is unprecedented, and the protesters carried their signature red umbrellas and T-shirts with the inscription "Séx work is work, we need our rights."
"We are tired of dying in silence," Patoo, who heads the Nigerian chapter of African Séx Workers Alliance (ASWA), told Al Jazeera. "We want to be able to practise our profession with pride like every other person. We want an end to name-calling and stigmatisation. We are séx workers and not asawo [a Yoruba name for prostitutes]."
Séx work, said Patoo, is normal work and that there are "séx workers everywhere under one form of disguise or the other". "government should stop criminalising our work," said the woman who is also the president of the Women of Power Initiative (WOPI), a non-governmental organisation established to advance the cause of séx work in Nigeria.
Although Nigeria has posted impressive economic growth, overtaking South Africa to become Africa's largest economy, unemployment remains widespread and many Nigerian women have ended up working as prostitutes in part because they cannot find work.
Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said in April that no fewer than 5.3 million youths are jobless, and the World Bank last year put the number of Nigerians living in destitution at 100 million.
Sister's advice
With large earrings and a face flamboyantly made up, Patoo sat in her busy office, which she shares with another organisation, and told Al Jazeera how she took the advice of her sister, a former prostituté, when life as a single parent became too tough for her.
Though reluctant then, she now sees it as any other business and has no regrets. "Just as you are proud of your profession, that is how I am proud of mine. Just as you are respected for being a journalist, that is how I want to be respected," said Patoo.
Abraham uses the pseudonym "Patoo" in her daily work - a name she chose to hide her identity when she began work as a prostituté.
She said her two children - a son and a daughter - are at university and she pays tuition fees for them. They do not know her occupation, she said, although she marched on the streets of Lagos for all to see.
In this oil-rich country of more than 160 million people ravaged by poverty and deprivation, Abraham's work seems lucrative. But Abraham and other women in this business still have the authorities and people to contend with.
One of the prostitutes who identified herself only as Janet, spoke of how police arrest them indiscriminately, raiding their brothel even when they are with their clients.
"Sometimes, after reluctantly paying for our services, they [the police] arrest us and take us to the station and ask us to bail ourselves with the same amount they paid us, thereby recovering their money," Janet said.
"Some of us sustain serious injuries when our customers beat us up and there is no one to protect us."
Other women raise even more serious complaints. Outspoken and HIV-positive, 35-year-old Ayide, the only name she gave in order to be quoted, attended one of the rallies and said it is not only the police to blame.
"When we talk about police, we are pointing accusing fingers at only one group. The fact is that all the uniformed men, especially the mobile police [paramilitary arm of the police], are oppressing us. They use their uniform to harass us. They extort money from us, beat us and rapé us," she said.
Patoo corroborated the claims of Janet and Ayide, saying that people who stigmatised them and the security agents who harassed them were a serious problem.
"People call us names but the funny thing is that they don't even know if their wives, sisters or daughters are one of us," she said in-between laughter.
"If I don't tell you that I am a séx worker, you won't know unless you see me here. Most of us are working as nurses in big hospitals, some are bankers and even students, but you won't know."
Raids on brothels
Philip Eze, the police officer in charge of Elere Police Division, Lagos, explained that the police would not arrest prostitutés were it not for the country's criminal code outlawing prostitution.
"In the Nigerian criminal code, if somebody is soliciting for men, it is against the law and vice versa. The law does not cause confusions; we are the ones causing confusion in the name of the law. I don't care if they have a world association, it is illegal in Nigeria and their assembly is illegal too," Eze said.
Responding to allegations of extortion, séxual harassment, and rapé by police, Eze said victims should report such cases and the offenders would be prosecuted.
"Even though they are prostitutés, they have every right to report rapé and other human right abuses," he told Al Jazeera.
Meanwhile, the fight between prostitutés and the authorities continue.
Police occasionally raid brothels in Lagos and make sweeping arrests in red light areas like Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island, Isaac John Street, and Allen Avenue.
Some of the lucky prostitutés end up in police cells where they are interrogated and eventually released on bail. Others end up serving jail terms of three to four months without an option of paying a fine after being charged for loitering, public indecency or disorderly conduct or engaging in acts inimical to the public good.
To stage the protest to mark International Séx Workers Rights Day 2014 without a clash with the authorities, the prostitutes outsmarted the police, obtaining a permit under the auspices of WOPI.
They took their demands to the authorities at Shomolu Local Government, Lagos, where they were advised that legislators held the key to their demand.
Previous attempts by Nigerian lawmakers to have prostitution legalised were unsuccessful.
In 2011, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, called for the complete legalisation of prostitution, saying this would enable the government to regulate the activities of prostitutés. The move sparked widespread criticism across the country and Ekweremadu later regretted his comment.
But Margaret Onah, the founder of Safe Haven Development Initiative and WOPI, who has campaigned for the rights of prostitutés, said she is planning to take protests to the national assembly, and push for legislation that will decriminalise séx work and empower women.
"Nigerian law does not specifically say anything against prostitution," Onah said. "What it says is that if a girl is caught openly soliciting for séx, and money is being exchanged, she should be arrested. But we know that if a girl is staying in a brothel, and is a séx worker, the brothel is more or less like her home"
